Region 45 offers a Spring Select soccer program, for eligible players and coaches who register and play in any Fall AYSO Core program (from any AYSO region, nationwide).
Region 45’s Spring Select program is an opportunity for players to develop their skills in a more competitive environment in ages 10U through 19U divisions.
The Spring Select season runs from January 2024 through early June 2024, and it includes other competitive select teams from Section 1 and Section 2 AYSO Regions.
This is a tryout-based Region 45 competitive soccer program.
There is no Spring Select program offered for players in the 6U through 8U divisions, but Region 45 may run another 8U recreational program during Spring 2024. This will be announced in early 2024 on our web site.
Some Spring Select teams skip winter events and start playing matches in March. Others begin training in December with tournaments starting in January. Teams typically play 3 to 6 weekend tournaments and weekly Sunday games in the Pacific Coast Spring Soccer League (PCSSL) from March through May. Some tournaments are within an hour driving distance, while others require an overnight (or two nights) stay.
A high level of commitment is expected from the players, coaches and parents. Select is for motivated and enthusiastic players, coaches, and parents.
Tryouts will be conducted no sooner than in 2nd half of October with the last tryouts ending around November 21st.
A limited number of teams will be formed in each age division from 10U-19U, between early-November and mid-December, subject to volunteer coaches and referees
Players are generally not allowed to play an older division. Rare exceptions will be handled on a case by case basis.
Select Program Costs and Scholarships Players new to Spring Select can expect to pay around $400-$450 in fees for attending three or four tournaments. This fee can vary though.
If a return player already has a uniform, the cost may be $100 less, or if the team opts to attend six (6) tournaments that may add $150 or more, not including travel costs.

Tryouts will be conducted to select teams. Not all applicants will be selected for teams as only a limited number of spots are available. The Tryouts and Fall season performance, parent volunteerism (2 coaches and 3 refs per team), and behavior are all factors in selecting players.

Applicants must be AYSO Certified at or above the Division they are applying to coach
Lead Head coaches will be determined by the AYSO Region 45 Spring Select Committee. Other head and assistant coaches for teams formed in each division will be selected by the lead coach and Spring Select Committee. Applying now ensures the lead coach knows your interest up front so they can solicit your help with tryouts and take your interest into consideration when forming teams.
